Tartan fabric is established in traditional craft skills, distinguished by its woven wool that showcases a unique design where "lines are replicated multiple times across the vertical and horizontal axes." Tartan is predominantly worn in the colder months; however, modern variations now incorporate woven patterns with colored stripes that are appropriate for any season. This evolution reinforces its reputation as a timeless staple that can be adapted to a wide range of styles and events.
To my understanding, there are no strict regulations regarding the use of tartan. However, it is typically viewed as respectful to wear a tartan linked to one's family or clan, or one that represents your heritage, while honoring and showing deep respect for Scottish culture.
